Rev. Roderick J. Josey is a native of Wilmington, NC. He is the youngest of two children born to Broderick Josey and Ann Dingle. Roderick graduated from North Brunswick High School and enrolled in Livingstone College. He completed his studies and graduated from Livingstone College with a bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Religious Studies in 2015. While a senior at Livingstone College, Josey had the opportunity to intern as assistant student activities director, where he held the first homecoming carnival and brought back the Livingstone College Bear Fest, which allowed students to show their creativity and talents on the big stage.
Upon completing Livingstone, he enrolled in Bowie State University and received a Master of Arts in Organizational Communications in May 2020. Rev. Josey graduated in May 2023 from Samual Dewitt School of Theology at Virginia Union University with his Master of Divinity degree. Rev. Josey is now a United Theological Seminary student obtaining his Doctorate in Ministry degree. Rev. Josey answered his calling at a young age under the leadership of Rev. Dr. George W. Maize IV and delivered his trial sermon in 2010 at 18 at Warner Temple A.M.E. Zion Church under Dr. Clifford Barnett Sr.
Rev. Josey is an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Rev. Josey was ordained deacon in 2020 and elder in 2022 by Bishop W. Darin Moore. Rev. Josey has also held the office of vice-chairperson of the Eastern Region YACM (Young Adult Christian Ministry) in the A.M.E. Zion Church since 2019. At Cesar Chavez Public Charter School, Rev. Josey is a Family and Community Engagement Coordinator in Washington DC, Director of Communications of the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal Area of the A.M.E. Zion Church, and the Education Editor for the Star of Zion. On May 26, 2024, at the 195th session of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Annual Conference, Rev. Josey was given his first pastoral appointment to Mt. Tabor A.M.E. Zion church in Avondale, PA as Bishop Moore's Last Pastoral Appointment as the Presiding Prelate of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Annual Conference. Rev. Josey is passionate about community work and building connections with partnership companies. He loves children, youth, and the young adult population. Rev. Josey loves God's people and is indebted to the work God has put in his hands. Rev. Josey's theme scripture is I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
